Building an online business doesn’t have to be an uphill battle.
Plenty of people have built successful online businesses or are currently working on doing so.
But if you don’t have a ton of money to invest in building your online business?
Because in today’s post I’m going to be giving you some tips to help out.
To give you some background information, I started my online business back in 2013.
There was a small problem though.
I had just gotten laid off from my job and straight to unemployment.
Fresh out of college I certainly didn’t have much money, expect the will to make it work.
So allow me to help you when it comes to building a lean online business.
Leverage Free and Organic Traffic
I don’t have enough money for paid traffic.
This is something I hear day in and day out, and it can no longer be an excuse.
Today, you can exclusively build your online business by leveraging free and organic traffic.
Here are a few examples that you just might be familiar with.
There are so many great advantages of Facebook.
But when it comes to free and organic traffic?
Here are the top spots:
Your own group (where you build up an audience).
Other groups (where you can provide value for others).
And of course your profile (where you can post anything you like).
The best part about all of this?
Is that it doesn’t cost you a single dime.
There’s plenty of people who have built their online business just from free Facebook traffic.
So it’s a perfect source if you’re looking to get up and running without breaking the bank.
YouTube was another social media platform that I leveraged when I started online.
Did you know that you can make as many videos as you want, free of charge?
Assuming that your laptop comes along with a microphone…
There are plenty of tools that allow you to record your screen for free.
If not that?
Then you can always jump in front of your phone and upload a video straight to YouTube.
The fact of the matter is that YouTube has a TON of traffic…
And I still leverage them today (and highly recommend that you do too).
Here’s one more.
By simply posting multiple times a day and connecting with other pages on Instagram…
I was able to build my Instagram page all the from 0 followers to over 180K.
Instagram is yet another great source of traffic because once again:
And the traffic is very targeted.
Also, one note before we continue on.
If you don’t like a specific social media outlet, or it doesn’t work well with you?
Then simply pick one that does.
It will save you a ton of headaches.
So aside from traffic sources, here’s how you can also save money building an online business.
Use What You Need
There’s a TON of tools, systems, and software out there.
In fact, sometimes it can be really confusing when it comes to choosing what is best for you.
So what I recommend doing in the beginning, is going with the essentials.
Website and hosting.
And of course any type of landing page builder.
The fact of the matter is that you can always leverage more tools and software as your online business starts to bring in more money.
Keep an eye on what you’d be needing for the future and how to even get great deals.
Special deals can come in the form of:
Christmas or any holiday special.
Getting a discount by going through someone’s link.
Or even looking around for special price discounts for tools.
I prefer paying a larger amount upfront as opposed to making monthly payments.
There’s plenty of articles that can help you out when it comes to that.
Simply search Google for:
Product pricing (here is a related post to see what I mean).
This will help you get the most bang for your buck when it comes to what you need.
And last but not least?
This actually goes hand in hand with social media marketing…
But networking allows you to get familiar with some of the movers and shakers in your industry.
With that, always comes the ability to promote their products, offers, and services.
You can establish relationships that can last you many years to come.
Networking is also easier than you think.
This can be done by simply:
Helping out others.
Demonstrating your expertise.
Posting in other big Facebook groups.
And of course, posting on your own Facebook profile.
It’s something that creates a snowball effect and can really work wonders for your online business.
So let’s wrap things up now.
The Bottom line
At the end of the day, building an online business doesn’t have to be expensive.
Especially if you’re not starting with a lot of money.
- Make sure you leverage free and organic traffic.
- Make use of only what you need (and look for deals).
- And lastly, make sure you’re networking while leveraging social media.
These repeated actions repeated on a daily basis can really help you hit the ground running.
