Sandeep Kumar:

Hello Erika, welcome to the interview. First of all, thank you for taking the time out and writing this interview for us.

Erika:

Thank you for inviting me to your blog and this interview.

I hope my answers can be of value even if I am not a blogger who has to earn for living.

My intention was more to learn and understand and maybe to be able to help my grandkids.

I was thinking in the future people may work from home, so that parents can spend more time with their kids.

Sandeep Kumar:

I think is a wornderful vision.  We must introduce our childeren to blogging to helps them share their thoughts with the world and at the same time enhance their technical skills.

Please tell our audience a little bit about your blog erikamohssen-beyk.com?

Erika:

My blog is about changing perception, about people with dreams that I wanted to support and about my experiences.

Sandeep Kumar:

Well, I must say you are really doing a very good job there. Can you tell us about your backstory and how did you come up with the idea of starting a blog?

Erika:

I got interested as I saw more and more people go online and I wanted to learn. I realized that in the future, this would be a way for people to work from home.

At the begin, I did not know about blogging. I looked for an opportunity to learn and found a course which promised to teach even people who do not know anything about working online.

What they promised did not happen for many, but I learned at least to start. I made connections, joined a group, and this way, I learned about blogging.

Sandeep Kumar:

Learning has nothing to do with age and you have proved that very well. Please share about the tools you use for your blog?

Erika:

My blog is on WordPress, and I do not use any tools, only the usual, nothing special.

The most important for me is Grammarly because English is not my native language. I started learning English with 55 and writing for the blog with 62.

Sandeep Kumar:

What have been the most influential books, podcasts, blogs or other resources?

Erika:

The books I read in my life have nothing to do with blogging.I did another course with a friend together more because he wanted and we started together with other sites.

But I think we can learn a lot about blogging through connection with others, blog commenting and in groups. There is a lot of information everywhere.

Sandeep Kumar:

Please share your daily routine? How much time do you give to your blog now?

Erika:

I spend a lot of time right now online. I do not need to schedule.

I do my work at home, have a garden, and twice a week, I have an exercise group. Usually, I walk for an hour daily. I do only what I love, and sometimes when I travel, I adjust with the time.

Sandeep Kumar:

How much time did it take for you to earn your first income online?

Erika:

I did not really focus on making money, but I think my first income was through Adsense, but not from my blog. My blog does not have even Adsense. But I know it takes time and needs traffic and patients.

I have other sites and FB pages, where I promote things which I think benefits people. My Intention with IM is not about making money. Whatever comes in, I give away.

I know that I could do better if I would focus on it.

Sandeep Kumar:

Who are the most influential people in the blogging industry that you admire the most and why?

Erika:

There are no special people that I admire. I love all people who try to seed goodness and help to make the world a better place. Many of our fellow bloggers are genuine and open-minded, too many names to say here. I think bloggers are a special tribe who help to connect the world.

Sandeep Kumar:

What do you think is the best strategy that worked well for you to get more traffic to your blog?

Erika:

I never tried to get traffic to my blog. It usually comes from connecting, blog commenting and sharing in social media. For my other sites and pages, Facebook ads worked good.

Provide interesting content. People want to be entertained. Do not be afraid to be sometimes controversial and make them think.

Sandeep Kumar:

There are so many offers out there to promote. How do I choose the right ones for my blog?

Erika:

There are indeed many offers. I only promote what I am sure is of value for people, and if I see, they are interested.  But it also depends on your audience. It is something you have to find out. A lot of this is about experimenting.

Sandeep Kumar:

How do I get started online if I am a complete newbie?

Erika:

Connect to other bloggers. Be not afraid to ask for help. There are also a lot of resources like videos and “how-to blogs.” Be patient. Getting a coach is good; usually, this is a shortcut and pays out.

Avoid shiny objects which promise money in a short time; this never works. Some coaches really are committed to helping.

Sandeep Kumar:

Awesome, well thank you so much, Erika, for accepting my request to share your thoughts with us. It was a good experience working with you. I wish you good health, prosperity and a lot of love. Good luck.

Erika:

Thank you, Sandeep.

Sandeep Kumar:

Thank you, everyone, for reading this interview. I feel so happy and motivated every time I share these stories with you. I’m thankful to Henry, Umer Qureshi, Mishal Soni, and Ravi Chahar who helped me staring this interview series.

This is my 4th interview in the series and I’m planning to speak with more people in the coming days.
