Hello Navin, thank you for taking the time to share your story with us.
Thank you, Sandeep for having me here and introducing to your blog audience.
So first, let’s start talking about what gets you out of bed? Do you have a favorite quote that inspires and motivates you or just helps you work on your online business every day?
Every day is a new day Sandeep, we can not take things for granted. What you have achieved, you have to maintain. And that’s the toughest part, being consistent all the time with anything to everything you do. I know that very well hence I am always charged with whatever I want to do.
Although, I believe is several quotes, but let me share a few –
“Try and Fail, but never fail to try” by Jared Leto
“Crawling in the right direction is always better than running towards the wrong one” by Navin Rao (that’s me)
We can relate all these quotes with the online industry to succeed. And being focused on my life is what makes me get out of my bed every day.
Can you just start by just telling people who aren’t familiar with the QuestionCage.com? What niche it’s into? Who’s the target audiences? And what problem are you trying to solve?
Sandeep I started QuestionCage with the motto of answering questions in Nov 2016.
Initially, I was writing How-To guides on Google Products and as time passes on my knowledge on SEO, blogging was also growing. So I started sharing those too, and I am fortunate enough my domain name allowed me to do so. Probably the reason why I ignore keywords in my domains.
And whereas my audience is concerned, anyone is welcome into it who wants to learn blogging, SEO and WordPress. I try to create crisp and helpful resources.
Apart from this my another blog navinrao.com, where I share only WordPress related articles. I offer web designing services through that. Over time I have already developed plenty of websites for my clients.
I know, most of the people fail in their first attempt to start a successful blog but I want to know Is this your first blog?
Fortunately, I haven’t failed.
Yes, QuestionCage is my first blog. I have researched a lot before starting this blog.
As I said above “Crawling in the right direction is always better than running towards the wrong one.”
Tell us a little bit about like, how did you come up with the idea for starting a blog?
I have a day job and blogging is so far being part-time for me and making money too and I’m definitely looking forward to expanding it further in the near future.
And here is how I came up with an idea of starting a blog.
I used to do a lot of research for techie stuff while working on my full-time job. One fine day I landed upon a blog which answered my questions. The answers were precise and crisp solutions to the problems I had.
That was the day, I thought I should also share my knowledge with people online and I found blogging as a perfect platform to do so.
I started digging further more and more about blogging and came to know that blogs can be monetized too. I can still recall that fantastic day.
How much time did it take for you to earn your first income online?
Making money from blogging is not easier, even if that looks like. I struggled a lot too. It took me around 7 to 8 months to make my first income from blogging. Patience and consistency in your action are going to be the key.
There are many options available to earn money from a blog, what monetization option did you choose and why?
Yeah, I agree, there are several monetization methods one could opt for their blog.
Generally, I don’t lose any monetization option as I don’t want to repeat the mistakes which I had committed in my early days.
Start monetizing your blog from the first day. Plan your content and pick the suitable monetization option accordingly thinking of the long term.
My favorite monetization methods for QuestionCage are,
- Affiliate Marketing
- Accepting Sponsored Posts
- Writing in-depth Product Reviews and
- Google Adsense
This is how I make money from it.
Whereas, NavinRao.com I provide WordPress Services like,
- Creating websites for Clients
- Website Customizations
- WordPress Optimization
Apart from that, I also assist Saurabh Tiwari on his SEO Agency AllDigiTrends.net , which makes me a little extra.
Can you give us an idea of the size of the monthly traffic you have right now?
At the moment the traffic goes around 8-9k per month. SEO is changing all the time, now my focus shifted to drive maximum traffic from search engines. Working vigorously on it.
What do you think is the best strategy that worked well for you to get more traffic to your blog?
Over time, I realized that networking with fellow bloggers will help you build a better community around and grow along.
Social Media, Forums are the great solutions to drive continuous traffic if used well. I am super active on social media and sites like Quora.
I help people sharing their stuff, subscribing to their blog, commenting on them. They do the return favor too.
Works aren’t it. Both will grow. Assume if you have similar larger friends groups.
SEO, is another great way, Undoubtedly. If the blog is at the initial level, then you should choose your keywords very carefully. Making sure that it has less competition with decent volume. The blog won’t grow if you target competitive keywords and that will lead to disappointment. Also, Change your SEO content strategy according to the recent Google Algorithms.
What were some of the mistakes that you made while building your online business? What didn’t go well?
I’ve made mistakes and learned from them. My biggest mistake was not planning the content. I was writing what I loved with doing no keyword research at all.
We need to write on the topics which are on-trend for better online visibility. Bottom line, Find what people are looking for.
What are some of the top tips that you would give our audience reading this interview to sort of taking away and think about in regards to making money online?
Here is what I would suggest.
- Do deep keyword research before writing content.
- Make sure you have decided which product to promote in the post.
- Target low competitive keywords, doesn’t matter if the search volume is lesser. Some traffic is better than no traffic.
- Be active on social media, and start making new friends.
- Start building authoritative links.
- Start blog commenting and engage with fellow bloggers.
- Don’t make too many blogs initially, as your efforts are going to saturated and none of them would grow.
If these can be done, you will see gradual progress.
What’s the best piece of business advice you’ve ever received?
I am a good listener. I believe a good listener is a good learner.
Initially, the first one year of blogging I was too shy and not so active on social media platforms. Use to work only on the backend.
But sooner or later I realized that networking is the key. My friend saurabh too advised me to start networking.
What book would you recommend to our audience and why?
I would say your first book should be Warren Buffett: The Life, Lessons & Rules For Success. It is a great book to motivate one. The book is written by Warren Buffett himself.
What’s one attribute or characteristic in your mind of successful online entrepreneurs?

what’s one of your most important passions outside of your work?
Apart from blogging if I have to consider one thing, Probably, can’t say passion but yes I enjoy listening to songs and even singing too. 🙂
