Choosing a low-competition niche and doing affiliate marketing is the key to making money online.

Hello there, welcome to another interview in the e-mail interview series where you read and learn about bloggers around the world.

In today’s interview, I’m sharing an e-mail interview that I recently finished with Ms. Nirmala Santhakumar.

She is a beautiful soul, passionate blogger, engineering graduate, and a housewife.

She is a super busy woman since being a housewife and working online is a really tough job but this busyness does not seem to stop her from helping others.

This e-mail interview is an example that shows her commitment to helping others by sharing the knowledge.

She got agreed to do this interview despite being busy working on four different blogs.

I’m feeling honored and pumped up. Thank you so much, Ms.Nirmala.

With that being said, let’s get started with the interview. Hope you feel inspired too!

Sandeep Kumar:

Hello Nirmala, thank you for taking the time to share your story with us.

Nirmala Santhakumar:

Thank you, Sandeep for the interview invite, it’s a pleasure to take part!

Sandeep Kumar:

So first, let’s start talking about what gets you out of bed? Do you have a favorite quote that inspires and motivates you or just helps you work on your online business every day?

Nirmala Santhakumar:

Yes! Consistent hard work leads to success, and I believe that there is no shortcut for Success. It’s my mantra, and it motivates me every day.

Sandeep Kumar:

Great! can you start by just telling people who aren’t familiar with Mymagicfundas.com? What niche it’s into? Who’s the target audience? And what problem are you trying to solve?

Nirmala Santhakumar:

For all who don’t know about my blog, MyMagicFundas, it is a multi-niche blog where I write about technology, online money making, blogging, and social media.

My primary target audience is the ones who would like to earn from home or make money online. I have written several ways of making income on the web and also shared my blogging knowledge & experience.

Since I’m an Electronics Engineer, I’m more interested in writing about the gadgets and software that make life easier.

Sandeep Kumar:

Most of the people fail in their first attempt to start a successful blog but I want to know Is this your first blog?

Nirmala Santhakumar:

Yes! It is my first blog on WordPress. However, I had a few blogs on blogger platform (Blogspot blogs) for health and beauty niches from where I have learned how to write SEO-optimized blog articles.

Sandeep Kumar:

Tell us a little bit about how did you come up with the idea of starting a blog?

Nirmala Santhakumar:

As I said earlier, I’m an Engineering graduate and graduated in the year 2002. I got married right after graduation. I wanted to work from home and not do a 9 to 5 for some personal reasons.

I searched for genuine online jobs and tried survey jobs, email reading job, Amazon MTURK, document error correction, and so on. But finally ended up with empty hands.

I was really frustrated with the scam jobs and then I came to know about “blogging” in 2008.

I created a few blogs on blogger platform and made some bucks. To blog professionally, I switched over to WordPress in the year 2013 and created mymagicfundas.com.

I do not consider myself an expert in the industry yet. I’m still learning new strategies and want to keep myself updated.

Ranking top on the Google search results for the targeted keyword is an art, and I’m doing several experiments to improve the keyword search rankings of my focussed keywords.

At of now, the financial situation is somewhat good. However, I would like to enhance the performance of my blogs to make a living out of blogging.

Sandeep Kumar:

How much time did it take for you to earn your first income online?

Nirmala Santhakumar:

I started blogging in 2008, and it took me around 8 months to receive my first cheque of $100 from Google Adsense.

Then began to learn strategies and made consistent income through Adsense, Paid product reviews, and link inclusions.

Sandeep Kumar:

There are many options available to earn money from a blog, what monetization option did you choose and why?

Nirmala Santhakumar:

I earned a consistent income of $100 plus from Google Adsense in 2014, but my bad, the blog was hit by Google Panda algorithm, and the traffic went almost zero.

I struggled and learned a lot to recover my blog. Even after that, I could not make a consistent income from Adsense, and thus, I have changed my mind to target the advertisers.

Now, paid reviews paid guest posts, and offering links through sponsored posts are the primary source of income that let me earn more than $300 per month.

I have Google Ads on my blog, but it takes around 6 months to reach the minimum payout.

Like MyMagicFundas, I’ve two more blogs, first is litabi.com which is a tech blog, it makes a decent revenue from sponsored content and the second blog is wpglossy.com making commission through affiliate marketing by recommending the products and services I use on my blogs.

So, I have monetized all of my blogs in different ways, and it is helping me a lot to make a good income every month.

Sandeep Kumar:

Can you give us an idea of the size of the monthly traffic you have right now?

Nirmala Santhakumar:

As of now, the traffic of my blog is around thirteen thousand visitors per month.

My entire focus is on my WordPress niche blog – wpglossy.com.

Sandeep Kumar:

What do you think is the best strategy that worked well for you to get more traffic to your blog?

Nirmala Santhakumar:

Organic traffic. It’s simple! and keyword research is the key to drive organic traffic.

Before writing any article, I do keyword research to find out the rankable keywords and related LSI keywords to include in the content.

It is the best strategy that is working well for me to get targeted traffic to my blogs.

Sandeep Kumar:

What were some of the mistakes that you made while building your online business? What didn’t go well?

Nirmala Santhakumar:

I managed multiple blogs on my own and didn’t hire people to take my blogs to the next level. As you know, blogging tasks involve keyword research, content creation & promotion, link building, and so on.

I would like to work with few people to get exponential growth, and it is still a dream for me. If I get a chance to work with a team in the office, I can do better!

Sandeep Kumar:

What are some of the top tips that you would give our audience reading this interview regarding making money online?

Nirmala Santhakumar:

Blogging, content writing, offering SEO services, and link building services are excellent ways to make money online. Once the reputation is built, then it would become easier to earn in $$$.

And when it comes to blogging, choosing the low-competition niche and doing affiliate marketing is the key to making money online.

Improving the stats of the blog like DA, PA, and DR is a fantastic way to attract the advertisers and paid guest bloggers.

Whatever be the way, the blog should get a decent amount of targeted traffic to get clicks, get shares and make conversations. No traffic, no sales.

Sandeep Kumar:

What’s the best piece of business advice you’ve ever received?

Nirmala Santhakumar:

Making a to-do list and work consistently on it with dedication would bring out your hidden talents to the world. This is the best ever business advice that I have received from a senior blogger, Atish Ranjan from Techtricksworld.com who inspired me a lot to do blogging.

Sandeep Kumar:

What book would you recommend to our audience and why?

Nirmala Santhakumar:

I’m not an avid book reader because of my time limitations. So, I can’t suggest any book to your audience, I’m sorry!

Sandeep Kumar:

What’s one attribute or characteristic in your mind of successful online entrepreneurs?

Nirmala Santhakumar:

Consistency in work is what I think a blogger should have.

Sandeep Kumar:

What’s your favorite personal productivity tool or habit?

Nirmala Santhakumar:

Practicing Yoga for an hour daily is my favorite habit. It helps me to stay focussed and active throughout the day.

I love doing Surya Namaskar, which is the best detoxification activity for my body that lets me work without any distraction.

Sandeep Kumar:

What’s one of your most important passions outside of your work?

Nirmala Santhakumar:

Maintaining a clean home is one of my biggest passions, and I’m doing it well. We do many spiritual worships and believe that God is dwelling in our home because of its cleanliness.

Sandeep Kumar:

I know the best way to reach you but just tell our audience as well in case if they want to connect with you?

Nirmala Santhakumar:

I’m on Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. And you can directly contact me by sending an email to wpglossy@gmail.com to get any suggestions or assistance for blogging.

Over to you readers…

Thank you so much for reading the interview.

I’ve got a lot of other questions to ask from Ms. Nirmala but due to the limitations of time and other commitments, it’s hard to cover everything in one single e-mail interview for us.

Nirmala is an active blogger and has been interviewed by various other blogs online which you can read here, here and here and find a little more different questions that she has answered before.

With that being said, I’ll see you in the next interview with another blogger and help you find a little more motivation.

Till then, goodbye and leave a comment below.

Cheers!
